A while back I wrote about how I struggle with perfectionism and procrastination. I still struggle with both, but I've found two very helpful articles that help explain why procrastinators procrastinate AND how to stop.
Part 2: How to Beat Procrastination
It turns out that we all have an instant gratification monkey who lives in our brains. I also have a perfection walrus, who wears a monocle and top hat and is very particular. There is also a panic monster.
(All of this makes much more sense if you read the articles, probably.)
But the author uses helpful pictures and graphs and maps to explain how procrastination works. Understanding it doesn't automatically fix it, and even understanding how to fix it doesn't automatically fix it when I am still basing my self worth on my performance rather than on Christ, but it does give you some tips and tricks. And now I have a really fun vocabulary for talking about my problems, and that's got to count for something. (I got lost in the dark playground again!)
