It's a new year, so it's time to set new goals! Here are the things I will be working on in 2017.
1. Get 10 rejections
This might seem like a weird goal, but I recently read an article about how writers should aim to get a certain number of rejections of their writing. A lot of writers set goals for a certain number of acceptances; the problem is that you really don't have control over that. Setting goals for rejections allows you to celebrate the fact that you are putting your stuff out there and gaining experience, even if stuff isn't accepted. I'm not ready for 100 rejections, so this year I'm shooting for 10.
2. Do all the fun cooking stuff I've been meaning to try
This includes making tortillas from scratch, learning to roll sushi, making my own goat cheese with the kit Andy got me for Christmas, making pickles, and making sour dough bread. I also want to learn to like olives this year, but that might be a stretch too far. I will do my best.
3. Get no library fines
I set this goal last year, and failed, but I'm going to try again! Really, if I do better than this year (that is, get less than $16 in fines) I will feel pretty good about it.
Those are my little goals for this year. Do you have any little goals you're working on?
